The Burrow
A complete transformation was in order for an underutilized mezzanine floor within a boutique hotel. Previously, this space had housed a small bar as part of the amenities offered, in addition to conference rooms. The concept was to reconfigure it into a stylish lounge bar. However, as this area served as a service floor, the most significant challenge was posed by the labyrinth of plumbing pipes that crisscrossed beneath the low 8-foot ceiling. Rather than concealing these services and risking further lowering the ceiling, an alternative approach was taken. The soffit and services were artfully painted in a deep, rich brown tone.
The flooring design drew inspiration from an existing motif within the hotel, effectively diverting attention from the ceiling. This harmonious design was enhanced by the inclusion of blue curtains, brown-tan leatherette, grey stucco walls, and walnut veneer paneling, creating a tasteful backdrop for the space. At the center of it all, a striking curved blue fluted bar took the spotlight.
To cater to a select few, a private lounge room was added at the rear, complete with its own exclusive access. The opulence of this room was further accentuated by the use of grey fabrics, wood paneling, and mood-enhancing lighting.
